O God, to them bequeath eternal peace And let perpetual light on them ne'er cease. O Present God, we cry a hymn to thee And make a vow to grant their plea. O hear our prayer of anguished fear For Death's abyss now lurks so near. O God, to them allow eternal rest And let perpetual light be their bequest. O God to them bequeath eternal peace And let perpetual light on them ne'er cease.
O Lord, assuage us with your merciful grace. O Christ, uplift us with your comforting face. O Lord, assure us with your blesséd embrace.
This day, this day of bitter wrath Will wash the world in bloody bath As seen by the wise and the mad. Our mournful trembling resonates From blasted towers to distant states To the Judge of the good and the bad.
The trumpet's awful piercing booms Across the twisted, steely tombs And summons all before the Throne. O who shall bow before the Judge? O who shall justify their grudge? In horror God and nature groan.
The Hebrew, Greek, and Arabic Pronounce against the heretic Of terror, hate and suicide: Revealing Truth's relentless tide, The God of Love and everyone Through growing dusk will rise the sun.
Afraid and angry what can we say? Uncertained, muddled, how can we pray When even innocence is banned?
O Lord of Righteous Majesty, O Where are You in this debris? O Where Your just and freeing hand?
O Gentle Jesus, remember our pain From that work morning adazzle in light. That day we fussed from our peaceable height, Then ripped asunder by our gleaming plane. And like th' onslaught of a great hurricane, We are consumed by our anger and fright, And wish, O Jesus, to take to safe flight, Now that our future is brutally ta'en. O Gentle Lord, we recall th' old, old cross: Because of sin Your still suffering cry Reverberates in the harrowing loss And there above in the threatening sky. O Righteous Judge in reckoning pay Award the gift of forgiveness this day.
The cosmos groans at th' evil shattered minds Who take Your name in vain to plead their sin. We groan, O Christ behind now-opened blinds, Exposed to the glare of long oppression's djinn. O Wisdom, what enormous wrongfulness Is stalking people's hearts and souls? O What deep, alienated longfulness Has left unhealing, cancerous holes? O Jesus, shower mercy on this world That into hell fire we shall not be hurled.
O God, when You confound the damned Who seek out sustenance in hate, Pray call us out with not a wait: But as Your mighty, righteous hand, Not bearing sword, but contraband Of food and medicine and fëte So woman, child and man can stand.
What justice will be done, What fitting plaque for the sleeping, If Your freedom's raising sun Endears in brilliant sweeping The mind and heart of everyone -- What day of joyous weeping! O God to them bequeath eternal peace And let perpetual light on them ne'er cease.
Lord Jesus Christ, release the victim's souls For which the bell of justice tolls. Out of th' abyss of senselessness Restore to them Your defenselessness Of hand in hand and mind with mind and heart to heart So from the quick they never be apart.
O Lord, to You in praise and tears we give Our sacrifices, prayers and work to live In faith and hope and righteous leagues. Accept them on behalf of our colleagues Of many nations whom we remember now -- Accept for them our true salaamic vow.
Holy, holy, holy, Lord God so tender, All of spatiotemporality, All of holosynchronality Express Your splendor. Hosanna in the highest!
Let eternal light illume the hours. Blessed are we when we live for God alone And through us the Holy Name is known. Let eternal life be ever ours. Hosanna in the highest!
O Lamb of God that reconciles the world, Let our humble courage be unfurled. O Lamb of God that overcomes despair, Let our faith and praxis live fore'er.
O God, to them bequeath eternal peace And let perpetual light on them ne'er cease. O Merciful Yahweh, with holy saints Allow them rest and release from plaints. And let we who remain be ever free Of anxious anguish, fear and agony. O God, to them allow eternal rest And let perpetual light be their bequest. O God to them bequeath eternal peace And let perpetual light on them ne'er cease.
O Merciful God, We stand upon a hinge of time, A moment rare and so sublime. We can go Right or we can go Left Now that our space has been so cleft. We can go Forth or we can go Back, But no longer ignore earthly lack. We can descend to Hell's abyss Or ascend to Heaven's bliss. We pray for Your guidance to liberate us. Into Your Beloved Community integrate us. O God, grace us with Your Salaam/Shalom benedictory, Your one, true and only Victory.
