We wait patiently ...

We wait patiently for You, O God;
Incline to us and hear our cry.
Draw us up from the desolate pit,
   out of the mirey bog,
and set our feet upon a rock,
   making our steps secure.
Put a new song in our mouths,
   a song of praise to You, O God.
Let us see and hear and trust in You.

Bless us that we trust in You
   and do not turn to the proud,
   to those who go astray after false gods!
You have multiplied, O God our God,
    Your wondrous deeds and thoughts towards us;
    none can compare with You!

Sacrifice and offering You do not want;
   but You have given us an open ear.
Burnt offering and sin offering You do not require.
We say, "Lo, we come;
   in the book it is written of us;
   We delight to do Your will, O our God;
   Your law is within our hearts."

We have told the glad news of deliverance;
Lo, we have not restrained our lips,
We have not hid Your saving help within our hearts;
We have spoken of Your faithfulness and Your salvation;
We have not concealed Your steadfast love and faithfulness.

Do not, O God, withhold Your mercy from us,
   let Your steadfast love and faithfulness ever preserve us!
For evils have encompassed us without number;
   our iniquities have overtaken us, till we cannot see.
Be pleased, O God, to deliver us!
   Make haste to help us!
Let all who see You
   rejoice and be glad in You;
   may those who love Your salvation say constantly,
   "Great is God!"
As for us, we are poor and needy;
   take thought for us.
You are our help and our deliverance;
   do not tarry, O our God!
